THE MOST REVD. DR. PREM CHAND SINGH IS THE MODERATOR OF THE CHURCH OF NORTH INDIA SYNOD

The Rt. Revd. Dr. Prem Chand Singh, Deputy Moderator, CNI Synod and Bishop, Diocese of Jabalpur was unanimously elected Moderator of the Church of North India Synod for the triennium 2017- 2020. He was installed as the Moderator of the Synod of the Church of North India at the recently concluded 16th Ordinary Meeting of the CNI Synod.

The newly elected Moderator while addressing the members present at the installation service said, First of all, I thank God Almighty for enabling us to have the 16th Ordinary Meeting of the Synod of the Church of North India and conclude it faithfully under His mighty guidance. Secondly, I want to thank those who worked hard to make this possible. We are grateful to the outgoing Moderator, The Most Revd. Dr. P. K. Samantaroy and all others in the various committees. Secondly, I welcome the new team who will be leading the ministry of the Church of North India for the next three years, said The Most Revd. Dr. Prem Chand Singh, Moderator, Church of North India Synod. He thanked each one for their love, support and care while he served as the Deputy Moderator. He also thanked everyone for the trust they have put in him by electing him as the Moderator. He called upon all to continue to uphold him in their prayers.”

He said, I see my new position as a purposeful appointment and call of God. I know that I am not worthy to this call. So I humble myself before God. I will work with my colleagues as a team. People ask me about my vision. My vision is identical with the vision of CNI – Unity, Witness and Service. We will go forward in our journey with this threefold focus. Our mission will be the same as the mission statement of CNI. Our priority will be the marginalized and the less privileged. We will open new avenues in making contribution in the ecumenical world. My position as the President of the National Council of Churches in India will help us much in this direction. My leadership will continue to be “Servant Leadership” which was shown to us as a model by our Lord Jesus Christ. Finally my faith affirmation is like that of Paul: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
