The special service of Palm Sunday was celebrated on April 9, 2017 with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The Palm Sunday procession started from St. John’s Church playground along with Sunday School children and youth fellowship members. The main attraction of the procession was the arrangement of a donkey and its owner; recalling the prophet saying;

“Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold, your king is coming to you, Humble, and mounted on a donkey’ And on a Colt, the foal of a beast of burden” (Mathew 21:1-11)

For the first time in the history of Basharatpur, resembling the victory scene of Jesus as a ‘King’ into the Jerusalem City was held. The most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that meat before him and the followed him were shouting in a loud voice:

“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the Highest!”

Priyanshu Kuwar Singh enacted the role of Jesus. The members entered into the Church and decorated the alter with palm branches. The service started with the prayer led by Revd. S. Vincent. The Old Testament and New Testament readings were done by Mrs. L. Obediah and Mr. Morisson Dyson.

A special song was presented by Sunday School students and Youth Fellowship members. The Revd. S. Vincent preached the Word of God and explained the importance of a Palm tree and compared it with life of a Righteous person, some highlights were:-
• A Palm tree is master over virtually all circumstances.
• Palm tree and branches are symbols of victory (Revelation 7:9, Romans 8:37).
• Palm trees are nourished from springs of water hidden beneath surface of earth (John 4:14, Ephesians 3:16)
